Great audio in visual or interactive media forms what I like to call “Wow Moments”—golden memories of an experience that are viscerally attached to how it sounds. However small or significant these moments may be, they act like magical anchor points in time where people feel completely surrounded by the art that they’re interacting with.
My first moments playing Sonic Adventure are forever tied to the joyous, flowing melody of Jun Senoue’s “Welcome to Station Square”. The thunderous striking sound of Halo 3’s Gravity Hammer is as satisfying today as it was in 2007, and hearing “St. James’ Infirmary” mournfully crooned over the cityscape of Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis still never fails to give me chills.
It is my fervent goal to have the audio I create foster this same sort of feeling in someone. I hope that my work on display here gives you confidence in my ability to do just that, and I hope you enjoy interacting with it as much as I did creating it!
